Flow behaviour concerning bank stability in the presence of spur dike – A review

چکیده
Abstract Flow in streams and rivers typically erodes the banks, causing channel bank migration laterally, resulting loss of nearby land, modification morphology, excessive sediment transport, water quality degradation. A spur dike is a hydraulic structure placed at projecting outward to guide or divert flow away from bank, thus protecting it erosion. The stability riverbed banks influenced by turbulent characteristics such as three-dimensional velocity distribution, kinetic energy, Reynolds shear stress, intensity, bed stress. researchers found that these turbulence parameters are instrumental movement along channel's its banks. Spurs dikes significant river training provided protect Several aspects related dikes, their geometry, physical features, design considerations, scour patterns, etc., critically reviewed this paper. Despite numbers literature field depth around dike, role vegetation effect seepage still remains an unexplored area. These knowledge gaps conditions discussed for future studies.

Virtual Dike: multiscale simulation of dike stability
We present a Virtual Dike simulation module developed as a part of a flood Early Warning System (EWS) for the UrbanFlood project. The UrbanFlood EWS is a distributed system that analyzes sensor data received in real-time from flood defenses (dikes, dams, etc.) and simulates dike stability, breaching and flood propagation. The aim of the Virtual Dike module is to develop an advanced multiscale m...

Spur dikes are the most common hydraulic structures for river bank protection. Since the construction of this structure causes higher velocities around it, this structure is exposed to erosion. Riprap around the structure nose is one of the most common and economic way to protect spur dike. The main aim of this study is to investigate the riprap stability in a mild 90 degrees bend. Experiments ...
متن کاملthe effects of changing roughness on the flow structure in the bends
flow in natural river bends is a complex and turbulent phenomenon which affects the scour and sedimentations and causes an irregular bed topography on the bed. for the reason, the flow hydralics and the parameters which affect the flow to be studied and understand. in this study the effect of bed and wall roughness using the software fluent discussed in a sharp 90-degree flume bend with 40.3cm ...
Optimization of the Geometric Parameters of the Protective Spur Dike using Taguchi Method and GRA.
In general, engineering designs need to optimize the factors affecting the under-study phenomenon; however, this is often a costly and time-consuming process. In this regard, new methods have been developed to optimize with fewer tests; thus, they can make the whole process more affordable. In this study, Taguchi and Taguchi-GRA methods were used to design the geometric parameters of the protec...
